A “'Portal” like physics puzzle game where players complete tests with tools and gadgets.

Bloobo

is a game project I joined out of interest. The project lead, Jacob Ruttenberg, were interested in having me onboard after seeing my work in Oxygen Caliber.

I am on-board as a gameplay engineer, but due to the small team size, I also implement systems for dialogues, and UX or juice oritented features.

In Bloobo, you play as a Scientist studying an incredible particle called bloobo. It is said bloobo is the source of human creativity. Your job is to guide bloobo from one test room to the next, using a variety of tools.

My main contributions:

  • Implement gameplay features such as rails for bloobo to glide on

  • Design and engineer interaction gadgets that are touch screen friendly and intuitive to use

  • Set up a dialogue system for story naration and flavorful commentary

  • Overhaul existing gameplay and interaction features for higher responisiveness, and better quality of life

Feature Highlights

Rotation anchors

A small and simple feature with many benefits:

  • Is mobile(touch screen) friendly — previous control is not.

  • Simple and intuitive — player can have fine control over the rotation by moving the gadget closer or further away.

  • Easy to implement — instantly work with existing objects, and adding to new objects is a breeze.

Object Silhouette

A system where obejcts leave silhouettes of old position when being moved or rotated. It helps players make small adjustments. It also looks nice!

Rails!

A very versatile object for our game designers and players to play with!

The Game is being actively worked on. There’s more to come!
